The world's largest collection of 3D printed model trains.
What Is It
The Dragon Railway is an open-source 3D printable model railway ecosystem in S-scale (1/64). A highly detailed and accurate scale model of a railway system — complete with locomotives, wagons, tracks, control systems, and accessories. Every major component is designed to be printed on a standard FDM printer.
As we say — "If it can be 3D printed, it will be 3D printed." From the body and wheels to the couplers, every major component is 3D printed. The only additional parts you need are screws, bearings, O-rings, and electronics. That's it.
Our Journey
Three years of iteration, failure, and improvement. Every version taught us something new.
Dragon Railway first started as an HO scale project. We wanted to build a fully 3D printed railway system, but after extensive testing, we concluded it was too unreliable on FDM printers. So we pivoted to 1/64 scale — and everything clicked.
The original HO scale designs are still available: GitHub repository
Dragon Railway V1 launched as a fully open-source 3D printed model railway system. Locomotives, wagons, a unique parametric track design, and an autocoupler system — all printable at home. The collection has steadily grown into the largest 3D printed model train ecosystem available today.
V2 built on the foundation of V1 by expanding the range of models available. More locomotives, more wagons, more track configurations — most open source with the same collaborative spirit that made V1 successful.
